Reconnecting and Warming Up:
- The funky chicken!
- The hand of power!
- Both activities were silly yet fun
- They allow students to demonstrate their creativity (particularly though the hand of power activity)
- These activities also exemplify the sense of community and belonging in the classroom, as some students might be nervous of what activities are to come.

Identity:
- Goal of Social Studies -> History, Time
- Identity describes personal stories; our lived experiences in relationship to others, times and places
Beginning with Personal Narrative:
- Where I'm From...
- I am from...
- We began by reading Barefoot: Escape on the Underground Railroad by Pamela Duncan Edwards.- We did a choral retelling of the story
- Our words and actions reflect the tone and atmosphere of the picture book
